Liverpool Hope Community Handball Club was established to promote youth development through Sport.
The very successfull Liverpool Hope Junior Boys Team
Since 2001, Liverpool Hope Community Handball Club has participated in a host of local and regional competitions at junior level and has been built from local schoolchildren, following development programmes run by its mentor club. Originally run as a youth club to encourage children to take up sport, it was not until 2003 that the club formed as a true Junior Handball Club, and in doing so, entered the Liverpool International Competition and North West under-13 League.
2004 saw Liverpool Hope firmly on the map by winning the North West under-13 League. Liverpool Hope outplayed all teams to win the League in style – a series of 6 individual tournaments played over 6 months and involving 19 games. In winning, they scored 109 goals and conceded just 42.
The success of the junior side saw an which enabled the Club to field two teams the following season (2005/6). The team playing in the 'A' Division were narrowly beaten into second place by their rivals Deva – a reversal of positions from the previous season.
Season 2006/2007 was a difficult year for the junior section, most notably with Michael Dutton sustaining injury. However, on a positive note, Michael, as well as Matthew Handley and Jason McInally had previously been selected to play with the Merseyside Youth Team. The Club wishes Michael well in his recovery.
The club is very proud to have recently seen it's young players represent England girls under-14 and under-18 levels, as well as under-18 boys level, playing against the world's best sides such as Sweden.
